Merve Akyıldız Balkan&Pop Band

Merve Akyıldız Balkan&Pop Band is a music group that combines folkloric songs in pop, jazz, acapella, ethnic and electronic. The project, which both delights the listener with rhythmic melodies and makes them feel deeply sad, unites people in common feelings with theme of peace in the World.

Born on February 25, 1994, in Izmir, she graduated from the State Conservatory in Antalya. She grew up with Turkish folk songs and discovered Balkan music due to her Macedonian roots. Merve won awards in piano and singing competitions, studied jazz harmony, and worked in various music genres. In 2018, she founded the “Merve Akyıldız World Music Project.” She is a soloist in the YuMaK team and the Berlin Babylon Orchestra. Currently, she lives in Berlin and performs at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater.

Peter Somos: Growing up in Budapest, he started working professionally at the age of 14. He is a summa cum laude graduate of the Codarts University of Music in Rotterdam. Peter has played with many well-known artists and performed at renowned festivals worldwide.

Vladimir Karparov: His music combines contemporary jazz with Bulgarian folk music. He has released successful albums such as “Thracian Dance” and “Iglika” and received the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture Award in 2020. Karparov performs with various formations, including the V. Karparov Quartet and the Balkan Spirit Ensemble, and has collaborated with artists like Ivo Papasov and Shantel.
