With ‘Triangled Thoughts’, the gallery BETTER GO SOUTH is showing the first solo exhibition in Berlin by the French artist Maud Paul.
The exhibition combines drawings and furniture designs to create a multi-layered, atmospheric installation in which inner life, materiality and memory sensitively interpenetrate.
Maud Paul's objects are created at the interface between art and design – hand-bent metal meets quilted fabrics, clear lines meet soft forms. Her furniture is not just functional objects, but also an expression of personal narratives and places of retreat. In her drawings, Paul also deals with intimacy and space: scenes from everyday life – laid tables, abandoned rooms, quiet moments – become poetic reflections on belonging, protection and nostalgia.
Born in Limoges in 1998, Paul studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. She gained experience in the studios of Valentin Loellmann and Lukas Cober, among others. In 2020, she was part of the international residency programme of Hubert d'Ursel in Portugal, where she created new works for the current exhibition.
The title ‘Triangled Thoughts’ refers to both the geometric and symbolic function of the triangle: as the most stable form and as a symbol of balance. Paul's works negotiate the attempt to find inner order in a fragmented world – as a graphic and sculptural manifestation of an emotion between clarity and emotional chaos.
- Exhibition opening on Friday, 2 May 2025, from 6:00 to 10:00 pm
