On 18 and 19 January, the debut film by young Berlin director Jurijs Saule ‘Martin liest den Koran’, which deals with the topic of Islamism, will be screened again in Berlin at the Bali Kino (Teltower Damm 33 in 14169 Berlin).

Ulrich Tukur and Zejhun Demirov (Only God Can Judge Me) can be seen in the leading roles.

The nationwide cinema release was on 07 November 2024.

The film deals with topics such as radicalization, inner conflicts and the struggle for the "right" decisions - questions that should not be ignored, especially in times of uncertainty and fear, but should be actively discussed.

With Ulrich Tukur and Zejhun Demirov in the leading roles and a narrative that does not provide simple answers but raises questions, the film invites deep reflection.

The screenplay, which won the German Film Prize, impressively shows the importance of these topics and emphasizes the value of an honest dialogue that is not characterized by fear but by the desire for understanding.

Director Jurijs Saule, born in Riga (then USSR) in 1985 and from a Jewish family, has created a unique film experience with this work.

The film not only offers intensive discussion material on Islam, integration and extremism, but also creates numerous starting points for an in-depth conversation.
