Mark and the Pfennige recall a time when a penny was a good investment for music. In times of hardship during the global economic crisis in the 1920s, the persecution of marginalized groups and dissidents in the 1930s, the horror of the Second World War in the 1940s, and the suffering that followed up until the 1950s - music has always helped people to turn to life and to face the future with more confidence.
