Celtic Fiddle, Harp and Song

Máire Breatnach, Ireland's most famous violinist, is a musical storyteller, a modern representative of the Celtic bard guild.

Her compositions are about the lovers of Celtic mythology, her songs are the great traditional love songs of Ireland, naturally in Gaelic: “Sean nos” - full of longing, passion and melancholy.

Her gripping dance compositions, whether reel, jig or hornpipe, have long since become part of the treasure trove of the traditional repertoire of Irish folk music.

The Riverdance violinist Máire Breatnach is an exceptional phenomenon in the Irish music scene:
She has been involved in almost all important productions of the past 3 decades: on violin, viola, whistle, piano, keyboards, guitar, as a composer, arranger, studio musician and producer. She is the violinist on the Riverdance CD and has worked with Nigel Kennedy, Mike Oldfield, Clannad, Donovan, the Chieftains, Sinead O Connor and Norland Wind, among others.

Norland Wind - Harpist Thomas Loefke accompanies Máire on a musical dream journey into Ireland's Celtic past. His harp compositions, created on his annual trips to the islands of the North Atlantic, are another focus of this duo program, which is characterized by the unbroken musical tradition of Ireland, the magnificent coastal and island landscapes of northwest Europe, gripping stories, strong feelings and exuberant joie de vivre and, last but not least, the exciting emotional connection between violin, harp and a magnificent voice.

The duo CD ROCK POOLS combines new compositions with Máire and Thomas' favorite recordings from 25 years of musical collaboration.
