40 years of lautten compagney BERLIN

A centuries-old work from the birth of opera, but its effect is immediate and contemporary: Claudio Monteverdi's "L'Orfeo" is perfect for interpretation by the lautten compagney BERLIN.

The premiere of Claudio Monteverdi's "L'Orfeo" in the palace of the Duke of Mantua was an event in music history that resonated far beyond Italy.

The timeless myth of Orpheus is one of the most famous stories in cultural history:

It is about the hubris of man, which has a decisive influence on our modern times, but also about passionate emotions and the search for a meaningful future. Monteverdi's setting of the material from 1607 seems immediate and contemporary as if it had just been written - a work perfect for interpretation by the lautten compagney BERLIN and a crowning conclusion to the ZEITSPRÜNGE festival.

In preparation for a stage production with the Winterthur Theater, the lautten compagney is performing Monteverdi's masterpiece in Berlin in a concert version. The title role is played by the Czech baritone Tomáš Král, who is now one of the most renowned singers in his field.
