After just the first few bars of Lexa Gates' new album, the word "exquisite" springs to mind - perhaps a little pompous, but perfectly apt.

Lexa Gates - The Elite Vessel Tour
The artist, born in Queens, New York in 2001, effortlessly combines pop, rap, jazz and R'n'B on her album Elite Vessel, giving the whole thing a casual, elegant touch that surprises and impresses. A prime example is Lately Nothing with Alé Araya: a gently grooving catchy tune that fits perfectly into the atmosphere of a stylish club.
But Lexa Gates also shows other facets: Stupid has a lot of bite, while Dirt seems charmingly over the top. I Just Can't Be Alone with Billy Lemos, on the other hand, skilfully mixes soulful jazz sounds with rap vibes - or maybe it's the other way around.
