Concert, contemporary witnesses, documents and a current view, with Jocelyn B. Smith and the advanced religion course of the Evangelical School Berlin Zentrum

On September 13, 1964, the people gathered in the Sophienkirche responded to Martin Luther King's confession with the gospel "Let my people go": "God's children live on both sides of the wall, and no man-made border can erase that fact."

Martin Luther King visited the Sophienkirche, coming from the Marienkirche, at 9:25 p.m. Accordingly, after the reenactment in the Marienkirche at 7 p.m., visitors can walk together to the Sophienkirche, where a special evening begins at 9 p.m.: the internationally renowned jazz, soul and opera singer Jocelyn B. Smith sings of love and understanding.

The advanced religious studies course at the Evangelische Schule Berlin Zentrum will revive the message of understanding in the spirit of Martin Luther King in documents and texts and also make a current reference.

Jocelyn B. Smith has worked with artists as diverse as Lenny White, Till Brönner, Falco, Alphaville and composers such as Mikis Theodorakis, Heiner Goebbels and Zülfu Livanelli.

In 2006, Jocelyn began her philanthropic project and founded the choir “Different Voices of Berlin” in Berlin-Kreuzberg. She is also the founder of the non-profit organization “Yes We Can e.V.” (2008), which is committed to the sustainable protection and help of children, as well as the humanitarian project “Shine A Light” for humanity and tolerance.
