Computers and video games in the GDR
Nobody in the GDR had a computer at home? Of course not. This year, the KC 85/1 minicomputer will be as old as the republic as a whole: It was first introduced at the Leipzig Spring Fair in 1985 and was used primarily in education.
In addition to the "KC scene," René Meyer will also be presenting kits like the Z 1013, Western computers like the Commodore C-64, and, of course, the Poly-Play arcade machine. The computer collector and author of the book "From Robotron to Poly-Play. Computer and Video Games in the GDR" will not only present the minicomputers from Dresden and Mühlhausen in his talk, but will also be putting some of them back into operation live.
So get some old BASIC commands ready!
