The research and lecture series From the Margins: Rediscovered Lives from the Archives explores the lives and works of remarkable figures from the field of visual arts who, for various reasons, have been forgotten, marginalised, or pushed to the fringes. The inaugural lecture on Rom Landau in autumn 2024 was a great success.
As part of the lecture series John Palatini and Susanne Köller now introduce Hans-Hasso von Veltheim, a close friend of Rom Landau and an acquaintance of Georg Kolbe. He was a collector, world traveller, and mediator between cultures, religions, and philosophical perspectives. His castle in Ostrau near Halle (Saale) was a gathering place for renowned intellectuals and artists since the late 1920s. In autumn 2025, the Kunstmuseum Moritzburg is preparing an exhibition on Veltheim’s art collection.
Get to know him in advance on 15 May at the Georg Kolbe Museum!
