Karsten Troyke

Chanson singer Karsten Troyke, accompanied by El Alemán on guitar, sings poems by Selma Meerbaum, Itzik Manger and Abraham Sutzkever set to music.

Karsten Troyke is a committed ambassador of Yiddish song and has collected songs that have fallen into oblivion over the decades. He interprets them with his impressive raspy voice - sometimes melancholy and full of longing, sometimes humorous, sometimes desperate.

The concert is taking place as part of the Selma Meerbaum anniversary year, with which the Protestant community of Tiergarten is commemorating the poet, who was born 100 years ago in Czernowitz and fell victim to the Shoah in 1942. She left behind 57 poems that are now part of world literature.
