Yasmine Yahiatène

»Dad, do you know what the Algerian war and alcohol have in common? The silence, the taboo and the shame.« The child who utters these words sees her father as a hero. But she later breaks off contact.

Yasmine Yahiatène follows in the footsteps of her father Ahmed: his Kabyle roots, his exile to France, the loss of his mother tongue. But also the final of the ’98 World Cup, Zidane’s two goals, the glorious version of a French-Algerian memory marked by scars.
And, between these two shores, alcohol – like a bad remedy for this disintegrating past.

Yasmine Yahiatène and her creative team have co-authored »La Fracture«, a world premiere that is as discreet as it is disturbing.

In a subtle game of oral evocations and visual overlays, she slips into the gaps in her family history and transforms the stage into a place of investigation and reparation.
