The JULIUS JAHN TRIO is a group of young students from the renowned Berlin Jazz Institute (JIB). They met there during their studies and discovered their love for creating soundscapes and stories together. A basic principle of their musical vision is experimentation on stage, which leads to new and unexpectedly exciting moments thanks to the daring of the three musicians.
Acting in a traditional trio line-up, Julius Jahn (tenor sax), Johann Greve (double bass) and Malte Wiest (drums) do not merely imitate. Influences such as those of Warne Marsh/Lee Konitz and Mark Turner are noticeable, but the trio is oriented towards the future and continues to develop familiar sounds, which thus become their own.
