Hiraeth is a Welsh word that describes homesickness, nostalgia and longing.
It's a slow and ethereal ship of sound, pushing majestically through the dark seas. An impressive range of extraordinary instruments, festive compositions and a voice that touches the heart. The dramaturgy of the album ranges from elegiac pieces with dark pop appeal to experimental sounds and a great musical intimacy.
Hiraeth stands for our unconscious dreams and various forms of longing. And when the world comes to an end, this is certainly the perfect, bittersweet soundtrack. The comparison with voices such as Lana Del Rey, Chelsea Wolfe and Beth Gibbons is obvious, but more avant-garde sounds such as Scott Walker and Nico can also be found here.
