Together against discrimination and anti-Semitism

The increase in anti-Semitic incidents is so alarming that the Kurt Mühlenhaupt Museum, as a cultural institution, wants to get involved in the discussion: How are those affected? What can be done about it?

The museum does not want to get involved in the polarizing, heated debate. Nevertheless, it is unacceptable to hold Jews here in Berlin responsible for the situation in Israel. Everyone can be expected to treat people with respect, regardless of their origin or faith.

The concert is intended to give space to community-building emotions.

The team is driven by the hope that the majority want peaceful coexistence, a shared future - with this in mind, three musicians from different backgrounds were asked to give a concert.

The managing director of OFEK e.V. (advice center for anti-Semitic violence and discrimination), Marina Chernivsky, will introduce the current situation surrounding anti-Semitism in Berlin and talk about changes after October 7th.

Sebastian Studnitzky, Haggai Cohen-Milo and Andrii Pokaz will then give a jazz concert.

The Israeli double bassist Haggai Cohen-Milo is part of the FRAMED e.V. initiative, which promotes intercultural dialogue. The jazz trumpeter Sebastian Studnitzky has also had experiences with anti-Semitism as the organizer of this year's X-Jazz Festival. The Ukrainian jazz pianist Andrii Pokaz brings an additional perspective on the problem of living together.

A conversation about their experiences, an exchange with the audience, should create sensitivity and understanding for the topic.

This evening aims to move away from the ever-increasing polarization tendencies towards a differentiated view, openness and respectful dialogue between religions, cultures, origins and traditions.

This event is supported by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion to prevent anti-Semitism and promote interreligious dialogue.

The concert takes place as part of Museum Sunday Berlin.
