Jade Pearl Baker & The Pearls: DRAG. GLAM. BERLIN.

Johannes Kram is responsible for the book and direction of this BKA production, who in the same capacity already performed the successful production “Operetta for Two Gay Tenors” at the BKA, which he wrote together with the composer Florian Ludewig.

The 16 Berlin songs from different times and genres are reinterpreted in a surprising way in a large musical overall arc of partly delicate, partly lush big band show arrangements.

A third are well-known Berlin hits (among others by Hildegard Knef, Peter Fox or from the musical “zeile 1”); The second third consists of lesser-known – some of them almost forgotten – Berlin titles that have been rediscovered and spiced up.


Another third of the show consists of new Berlin songs that Florian Ludewig and Johannes Kram wrote especially for this revue.


All songs are brought together into a unit not only by the big band sound, but also by a maxim in terms of content.


Johannes Kram: “We didn’t want to do another music revue that primarily illuminates Berlin from a historical perspective, but rather our unifying motto is “Berlin is now!” And that’s why we chose the new and old titles based on whether they are a describe the Berlin feeling that we experience today with the old songs, even if it comes from a different time.«
