Sam Beam recorded the tracks for his new album in Los Angeles, where, surprisingly, he had never produced a record before. Maybe it's because the sound of the songs has a West Coast lightness and is more playful than ever, even though Iron & Wine's new album features a large line-up including a 24-piece orchestra.
