With eight wind instruments, the wind instruments of the c/o chamber orchestra delve into the fascinating era of imperial "harmony music."

Works performed:

  • Ruth Gipps: Octet for wind instruments, Op.65
  • Franz Krommer: Octet-Parita Op78
  • Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Serenade in E flat major, KV 375

In April 1782, the first imperial "harmony" was created in Vienna, consisting of "nothing but wind instruments" - two oboes, clarinets, bassoons and horns each. This marked the beginning of a fashionable wave of wind music at the European courts that lasted for over half a century. Hardly any court of rank would have done without its own wind ensemble. The musicians not only created a new genre, but also ensured a flourishing of chamber music, which continues to delight audiences with wit and esprit to this day.

Since In 2014, the conductorless c/o chamber orchestra explores making music without hierarchies: from chamber music to opera.
