An evening with Gabriele Streichhahn and Ute Falkenau at the piano

I am twenty-seven years old as I write this. But I could also write: three years old, or: fifty thousand. I come from somewhere in the Mark. I am a Prussian. And my colors that you know are black and white. Black is night and white is day. I am day and night.

Anyone who wants to accompany me for an hour is welcome.

Small self-biography by Alfred Henschke called Klabund

Born in 1890 in Crossen an der Oder, died in 1928, Alfred Henschke – known as KLABUND – placed himself in the first rank of German writers of his time.

Friends were Frank Wedekind and Gottfried Benn, Brecht used Klabund's “Chalk Circle” as a basis for his interpretation, and he was acquainted with Bloch and Hesse.

The cabaret “Schall und Rauch” became an artistic home.
