Julius Warmuth

Anyone who insisted on a sense of freedom and their own language often had to pay a high price as an author in the GDR. Once texts were classified as harmful, they no longer had a chance of being published. Nevertheless, they were created, in secret.

A collage that illuminates texts by authors persecuted by the GDR regime and gives them a voice. Ostracized voices, forbidden texts that tell of courageous life plans, of spying and intellectual backbone, between prison and poetry, between censorship and intellectual resistance.

  • Concept and idea: Alexander Finger, Julius Warmuth
