For over a year now, the Hot Club Berlin has been celebrating the music of Django Reinhardt and his companions in front of an enthusiastic audience at the ZigZag Jazzclub. And last month all were finally able to celebrate the premiere of the Hot Club Orchestra, which is now entering the next round.

The Hot Club of Berlin is led by Francisco Batista & Thomas Dekas, stylistically experienced guitarists who have already performed on stage with the big names of the gypsy jazz world such as Mozes Rosenberg, Paulus Schäfer, Gonzalo Bergara and Sebastien Giniaux. Together with the city's best hot jazz cats, they now form one of the freshest and most exciting bands in town.

Johannes Böhmer from Göttingen came into contact with music at an early age; after gaining experience with singing and piano, he stuck with the trumpet.

He later studied jazz trumpet in Amsterdam and Philadelphia and moved to Berlin in 2010, where he still lives today and is involved in many projects as an instrumentalist, arranger and composer. He feels at home in many different musical environments and enjoys playing both as a soloist and as a member of an ensemble.

In addition to jazz projects in the Berlin scene, his focus is on creative large-scale ensembles (e.g. Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra, Magnetic Ghost Orchestra, Omniversal Earkestra, Ete Large), Trad Jazz (Rufus Temple Orchestra, Syncopation Society Orchestra) and Afrobeat. Barcelona native Gianni Gagliardi "a rising star on the Brooklyn jazz scene," as Ron Netsky of the Rochester City Newspaper writes.

His unique sound, originality and artistic integrity have enabled him to perform around the world in a wide variety of settings, from jazz to flamenco with the likes of Al Foster, John Clayton, Dick Oats, Gilad Hekselman and Jordi Rossy. He has been a student at Berklee College of Music, the State University of New York, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and the Conservatoire National Superior de Paris.

Gianni is the founder of BCN Jazz Collective, a label and platform for young composers to publish and promote their works. He is in demand as a sideman and leader; his recordings have received the highest praise from international critics.

"Gagliardi delivers music that is distinctive and stirring. One of his many gifts is his ability to shape and build intensity." - Dan Bylawsky, All About Jazz
