The sale and removal of the HERTHA, built in 1886, from Klempowsee in Wusterhausen/Dosse in 2017 not only marked the end of the exciting survival story of the legendary football steamer, whose name was used by the founders of the Berlin football club in 1892! From 1968 to 2002, it travelled incognito under the name SEEBÄR for the passenger shipping company Dentler on the 24 km long chain of lakes.
On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Berlin football club in 2002, the ‘Alte Dame’ was christened ‘back’ to its original name. After its traces were lost in the turmoil after the Second World War, as the excursion ship was travelling in East Berlin waters under the name SEID BEREIT, it was considered lost until 1978.
A West Berlin ship historian clearly identified the passenger ship, which had been converted into the SEEBÄR, as the founding ship HERTHA. While the large HERTHA is being restored to its original condition in a shipyard in Oranienburg, the small successor and sister ship HERTHA-AUGUSTE is starting its third season and continuing the 97-year tradition of passenger shipping on the Kyritz chain of lakes in north-west Brandenburg.
The small, new and environmentally friendly, electrically powered passenger ship is now available for lake cruises from the landing stages in Wusterhausen, Bantikow, Untersee-Insel and Kyritz.
Scheduled trips according to the timetable are possible at weekends, on public holidays and on Wednesdays during school holidays. Charter trips for up to 30 people for special occasions such as family celebrations, company events, weddings or as an excursion highlight for BUSTOURISTIK travel groups and small groups of 4 people or more can be booked at short notice and at a reasonable price at any time. The whisper-quiet gliding on the water through the unspoilt nature of the nature reserve makes the boat tour a special excursion on the waters without a navigable tributary, on which boats with combustion engines are prohibited! The combination of experiencing exciting ship history, sailor's yarns and regional history, presented live by the captain, in conjunction with slowing down, relaxation, peace and 100% nature on board the HERTHA-AUGUSTE offers an unforgettable experience: a visit to the region around Kyritz, Wusterhausen and Neustadt/Dosse.
