LIVE PERFORMANCES

"A Wonderful World" is a journey through a world of reimagined ruins, forgotten objects and life making its way through the cracks. Like an amusement park, the multi-layered installation leads visitors through soundtracks and scenes accompanied by ghosts of the past, present and future.

The immersive course through the egg house, with its playful, labyrinthine structure, conjures up an experiential discourse around the theme of "wonder" and raises questions about which worlds we want to see and inhabit.

The exhibition focuses on three new audiovisual works by the Gray Voice Ensemble under the direction of composer and creative director Elisabeth Wood.

The videos, mostly shot on the grounds of Spreepark, show ensemble members and guests performing their jointly developed songs amidst the abandoned park architecture and sprawling plant life.

An abstract narrative unfolds between the choir's performers, who are between 6 and 76 years old and appear in otherworldly "creature" costumes by designer Kaur Hensel.

The curatorial team, consisting of artists Sol Calero and Christopher Kline, conceived and implemented the physical elements of the spatial installation in dialogue with the ensemble.

Inspired by the dilapidated attractions of the former amusement park, they combine various relics of old rides to create new dimensions of indoor and outdoor space.

This multi-layered collaboration culminates in a site-specific piece of music that can be experienced both through the exhibition and its audiovisual elements and through live performances on specific dates.
