Geometric designs in Islamic art

Dive deeper into this aspect of Islamic art. Participants will explore geometric patterns together and even try their hand at designing their own. Using examples from the Qalawun complex in Cairo, facilitator and artist Ghaidaa Kotb will introduce the principles of the twelve-fold star.


After the workshop, participants can take their own work home. It makes a great gift!


This workshop is open to people of all ages (15 years and older).


This workshop is a continuation of a workshop from December 2024, but can also be attended individually.


This workshop is also part of a series in which various materials, motifs, and techniques of Islamic art can be discovered.


The following workshop will take place on October 11, 2025, and will focus on stucco carving.
