The House of Commons debate

On 5 November, the ‘House of Commons debate: A future without animal testing? Wish and reality’ in the lecture theatre ruins of the Charité!

The debate about animal testing and alternatives is complex and multi-layered. Do we need animal experiments or can they be avoided? Who is allowed to carry them out and for what purpose?

This is what we want to discuss. Based on your yes/no decisions, you will position yourself in the room on the most pressing questions concerning the legal framework, ethical judgements, scientific needs and medical potential. Opinions and changes of opinion will thus become visible as those present change places in the room.

Stefan Hippenstiel, Professor of Infectiology and Pneumology at Charité and spokesperson for the Einstein Centre 3R, will give the keynote speech.

The moderator will be Susan Schädlich, veterinarian and science journalist, together with Michael Stang, journalist and author.
