The Dulzian Consort Double Reed Tales is one of the few ensembles that specialises in music for multiple dulcians. In its current project, the ensemble is putting together a concert programme based on one of the most famous books of the Renaissance: Sebastian Brant's ‘The Ship of Fools’ from 1494.
The Eulenspiegel-like miniatures from Brant's moral satire are combined with music from the 16th and 17th centuries. The result is a comedy of unpleasant truths that not only points the moral finger, but also features many lively melodies.
Double Reed Tales is enhanced on this extraordinary concert evening by percussionist Laura Robles and Berlin singer, actress and director Olivia Stahn, who embodies the historical texts in song and performance as the protagonist of the evening.
