From November 2024, the Friedrichstadt-Palast Berlin will present its new young show “Frida & Frida” – a captivating story about self-confidence, imagination and overcoming difficult situations.

A colorful stage show with stirring South American motifs and compositions created in collaboration with Mexican artists.
"Frida & Frida" is a lively and visually impressive young show that deals with topics such as illness and worries in a child-friendly and sensitive manner.
Together with the 100 young artists on stage, the young spectators in the hall learn that they too can overcome challenges and that true superpowers lie within them: self-confidence, imagination, humor and confidence.
What is Frida & Frida about?
Frida is unique and does what she wants. When she falls ill and has to spend a long time in the hospital, her classmates mock her. All alone in her hospital room, she creates a magical best friend in her imagination - and also calls her creation Frida.
The fictional Frida is essentially a version of herself, free from restrictions and always happy. Soon the boundaries between reality, hospital and daydreams begin to blur in Frida's blossoming imagination.
Together with other young patients on the ward, the indestructible Medi-Kids, Frida embarks on adventurous journeys of thought. And with every step Frida discovers more of her hidden superpowers.
The new production is inspired by the young Frida Kahlo, who suffered from a serious illness (polio) as a girl. Nevertheless, she didn't let that stop her and later became a world-famous Mexican icon. A homage that Frida Kahlo would certainly have appreciated herself: everything made up and yet with real references. And full of joy of life and unshakable strength.
The Young Shows in the Palace set standards across Europe.
Over 100 young talents between the ages of 6 and 18 take part in each performance. The young ensemble is the largest of its kind in Europe and consists of around 240 children and young people from over 20 different nations.
