The Bröhan Museum - the Berlin State Museum for Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Functionalism - bears the name of its founder, Karl H. Bröhan.
As an enthusiastic collector and expert on Art Nouveau, Art Deco and the art of the Berlin Secession, Bröhan founded a private museum in a villa in Dahlem in 1973.
On his 60th birthday, he donated his collection to the state of Berlin. In 1983, the Bröhan Museum moved to its current premises in the Charlottenburg Palace complex.
