The group project ‘Foodporn’ is not just about photos of food, but playfully addresses various social issues such as sexuality, nutrition, gender roles and body mass index.

On social media, the hashtag #foodporn is mainly used for photos of delicious food. The Supernova project has now taken this term a step further.

Sexual self-determination is an issue that has preoccupied many generations. Even in the most enlightened societies, sexuality is still a taboo subject that is scandalised, censored and sanctioned. Furthermore, there are many societies in which women are still not allowed to feel pleasure in the 21st century and have to fear for their lives if they live out their sexuality freely.

Food and lust are closely linked.

Who hasn't heard the saying ‘I want to eat you’, in Spanish it's similar to ‘te quiero comer’. ‘Food is the sex of the elderly’ is a saying. I'm sure everyone has had ‘orgasmic food’ in their mouth at some point.

In their shoots, they have placed great emphasis on vegetarian food - most of the objects of their desire are even vegan. The message behind it: vegan/vegetarian is sexy.

However, the focus of the project is clearly on lust, lust for food, lust for sex. Love doesn't just go through the stomach. They say YES to lust, love and passion and thus stand for life and a life-affirming attitude, colourful, frivolous and with plenty of sex appeal.

The Supernova project was founded in 2017 by 4 artists and celebrated its exhibition debut in the same year. SUPERNOVA is a so-called ‘producer gallery’. So there is no gallery owner.
