Germany Premiere - International Festival Theater der Dinge 2024

Filifjonka lives in her house on a lonely island in the North Sea, surrounded by her family's heirlooms and in constant fear of a catastrophe. She herself doesn't really know what she's afraid of.

But her fear is so great that she hardly ever goes outside. Her neighbor Gafsa, the only other living creature on the island, wants to have contact with her so much. The inspiration for this story from Moomin Valley is said to have been the relationship between the author Tove Jansson and her partner, with whom she lived on a remote island.

The Burgas Puppet Theater tells the story with poetic finesse and subtle humor, a surprisingly changeable stage design and precise acting of two eccentric characters and the confrontation with their own fears.

With this family production, which was awarded the National Theater Prize for the best puppet theater production in Bulgaria in 2019, the ensemble is visiting Theater der Dinge for the first time.

To get in the mood for the theater visit and to better understand the story and its characters, children aged 7 and over and their families are invited to an introduction and a cozy cup of tea at 5:15 p.m.

In addition to the subtitles, the German text will also be made available as a printout for reading beforehand. A flickering video projection will be used in one sequence.
