presented by Jazz am Helmholtzplatz e.V

Fat'n'Fancy is an ensemble founded by Bridget Kinneary and Dexter

Stanley-Tauvao in New York, USA. Its aim is to combine jazz and classical music on an educational, musical and social level.

FAT‘ N’ FANCY

  • Amanda Becker (DE) - vocals
  • Philippe Chardon (FR), Karin van Kooten (NL) - violin
  • Bridget Kinneary (US) - viola
  • Larry DiBello (US) - cello
  • Roz Macdonald (SC) - bass
  • Peer Neumann (FI) - piano
  • Dexter Stanley-Tauvao (NZ) - drums

Musically, FAT‘ N’ FANCY move between classical and jazz, but also use their special instrumentation to incorporate influences from other genres such as folk, hip-hop, samba, R&B and pop.

On a social level, they create a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere – not least through their shared passion for good food. After all, there is hardly anything that brings people together better than music – except perhaps a good meal.

This creates a space in which art and culinary delights can be enjoyed equally.
As music educators, they have taught in New York and New Zealand, combining both classical and jazz pedagogical methods to open up new learning pathways for aspiring musicians and to promote their development.

Now they are looking forward to their Berlin debut at ‘Jazz am Helmholtzplatz e.V.’ at the BROTFABRIK.
