New Research on the Concentration Camp System in the Long War Year 1944/45
The lecture sheds light on how the concentration camp system was shaped by the escalation of mass deportations, mass murder and forced labour from the end of 1943. It also shows that the expansion of the camp cosmos was increasingly accompanied by disintegration, withdrawal and camp clearances. It shows how the SS tried to maintain control over a collapsing system.
