A dance performance by and with Gaya Dandara

Gaya Dandara is a Brazilian dancer, choreographer, and holds a master's degree in theatre education from Belo Horizonte. She completed her dance training in classical and contemporary dance from 1998 to 2005 at Grupo Corpo in Brazil.


She then specialized in scenic anthropology and ethnoscenology at the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Brazil, and in traditional and contemporary African dance with choreographer Germaine Acogny at the École des Sables in Senegal.

In her career as a dancer and choreographer, she has collaborated with various organizations, including Tanzfabrik Berlin, Tanzplatfom Deutschland, International Dance Fair NRW, Fabrik Potsdam, Fabrik Moves, FESMAN - World Festival of Black Arts, École des Sables, and others.


She is the founder and project manager of the project "Tanz und Kunstimpulse für Vielfalt" in collaboration with the artist Drew.Lab_One, funded by the "Berliner Projektfonds Kulturelle Bildung".

She heads the research project "In Search of non ordinary Body: Body Balance Black Fusion for Performers", funded by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion - Berlin (work and research grants).
