On 13 April, the Salsabil ensemble invites you to a special concert at the Schwartzsche Villa: an evening of authentic Sufi music will unfold in the tradition of the mystic Mevlana Rumi, carried by traditional instruments and accompanied by a whirling dervish – a spiritual journey in sound and movement.

In the spirit of Mevlana Rumi, the famous 13th-century mystic who expressed his love of God in tens of thousands of passionate verses, the SALSABIL ensemble presents a concert of authentic Sufi music played on traditional instruments.

A Semazen (whirling dervish) will take part in the concert and perform the dervish dance to some of the ritual pieces. Ilahis (religious hymns) in different makams and excerpts from the Ferahfeza Ayın (ritual music of the dervish ceremony) will be performed.

  • Hakan Erkaraman and Bora Bilgiç – Vocals
  • Attila Wiegand – ney (reed flute)
  • Cengizhan Özmen and Soner Dastan – ud (short-necked lute)
  • Shingo Masuda – kanun (box zither)
  • Matthias Bautz and Cemal – percussion
  • Cihangir Böge – semazen (dervish dance)
