A thread of life that they continue to spin in their imagination; a magic show in times of dictatorship. Three stumbling blocks remind us of the Jewish Kroner family, who owned the “Zauberkönig” shop on Friedrichstrasse. Based on their fate, we ask about the failure of an entire society.

How would we have behaved? Would we have stood up against oppression as escape helpers like Maria von Maltzan, the “Lioness of Berlin”? And given the increasing propensity for violence, will we now recognize the time when we have to act?
