Climate change, epidemics, wars and a shift to the right... What does it feel like to grow up today? John Kolya Reichart posed this question to young adults across Germany in 2023. His portrait of the generation's hopes and fears can be seen in an exhibition at the Zeiss-Großplanetarium.

  • What personal and social challenges do these eighteen-year-olds face?
  • What gives them hope?
  • What is their vision of a better world?

The multimedia exhibition .achtzehn invites you to immerse yourself in the world of thought of a generation that is just coming of age by means of portrait photographs, voices and moving images. A journey across Germany - from the mountains to the sea, to big cities and villages, to playgrounds, motorway blockades and theatre stages, to children's rooms, military barracks and youth detention centres.

In these emotionally charged places, the protagonists provide insights into their personal realities and social perspectives and open up spaces that invite us to reflect on the questions of our time.
