His music and his theatrical talent made the Belgian musician Jacques Brel unforgettable. DER SPIEGEL aptly called Jacques Brel, who sang on stage, sweated and gave his all, a "singing animal". If anyone today knows how to slip into Brel's animal skin, it is without a doubt Paris-born Dominique Horwitz.

Brel's songs seem as if they were written for Horwitz. Whether they are about abandonment or love, these chansons are dramatic narratives, a world unto themselves.

Dominique Horwitz lets his characters shout out their sorrow and happiness, lets them dance themselves out of their minds, loves them, lives them.

Dominique Horwitz, celebrated star of stage, film and chanson, explodes the boundaries of the everyday with tender violence and thus becomes - like Brel once did - a "singing animal" himself.
