7th Symphony by Gustav Mahler

On 1 August 2024 at 7.30 pm, the Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Niedersachsen will perform Gustav Mahler's 7th Symphony at the Admiralspalast. Of all his symphonies, the 7th Symphony is the least frequently performed individually, so this is certainly an event not to be missed.

The work, composed between 1904 and 1905, comprises five movements and is often referred to as a "song of the night".

It begins with a sombre first movement and includes two lyrical "night musics", an eerie scherzo and a festive finale. With its varied orchestration and complex structure, the 7th Symphony impressively explores the boundaries of late Romantic music.
The premiere took place in Prague in 1908 under the direction of the composer.

The Young Philharmonic Orchestra of Niedersachsen is a young orchestra with musicians from different backgrounds. It thrives on its diversity, in which budding professionals and music-loving amateurs from Lower Saxony, the whole of Germany and beyond pursue the common goal of bringing great symphonic works to the stage.
Founded in 1989, the orchestra has always been organised on an honorary basis and thrives on the voluntary commitment of its members.
