The chaos of our time shows clear parallels to the era that gave rise to DADA when the turmoil and violence of war provoked an artistic response in the form of absurdity and anti-establishment ideals. Today, as political, social, and cultural absurdities grow, this exhibition invites contemporary artists to embrace the irreverent spirit of DADA and use nonsense as a subversive tool to challenge existing power structures and norms.
The exhibition celebrates the ongoing relevance of the movement and its rejection of logic, reason, and rationality in favor of chance, spontaneity, and pure creative rebellion. Sculptures, paintings, poetry, music, performances, and multimedia works come together to question the status quo and embrace the absurd.
This exhibition highlights the explicitly political roots of DADA, reflecting on themes such as anarchism, leftist critique, and the senselessness of mass violence. It demonstrates how absurdity and nonsense can be powerful means of challenging authority, critiquing violence, and reimagining the world around us.
