The relationship between city and nature has always been complex. While gardens were once an integral part of everyday life, industrialization changed this balance. Allotment gardens became important places of refuge, enabling self-sufficiency, recreation, and community.

Today, cities face new challenges: climate change, heat waves, and heavy rainfall. More green space is crucial to ensuring quality of life and environmental justice – allotment gardens make a valuable contribution to this. They connect nature with urban space and demonstrate how community gardening makes cities more livable.

This exhibition brings these topics to life and invites people of all ages to get involved.
