"Who am I? What defines us as a group? What is our place in the world and what is the treasure that we all carry within us?" MIMOTO is the key word. The Japanese word for identity forms the starting point for an unusual ensemble that embarks on a performative journey to the I in the inclusive we.
The artists of Circus Sonnenstich let sticks dance, hoops circle, running balls roll and diabolos fly. Powerful acrobatics mix with delicate poetry, dance and rap with moments of concentrated silence.
A performance with the potential to change one's self-image and worldview and make the world a little better.
The Center for Moving Art is a project that is unique in Germany. Under its roof, Circus Sonnenstich operates with 50 artists, all of whom live with trisomy 21 (Down syndrome). The performance ensemble consists of 18 artists aged 18-40, who are complemented by six other artists in inclusive tandems and ensemble performances.
Sonnenstich has often performed on large stages (Wintergarten, Admiralspalast, Berlin Circus Festival, in Prague, Helsinki and St. Petersburg).
The last premieres “KaraK Visions” (2023) and “Journey to Mimoto” (2024) were performed as part of the international guest performance series “Play” at the Chamäleon Theater.
