Guest event with the Berliner Symphoniker, Matthias Foremny, Timo Brunke

One of the most moving fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm is inseparably linked to the Christmas season thanks to Engelbert Humperdinck's musical setting: "Hansel and Gretel". This fairy tale opera was premiered in 1893 just before Christmas at the Weimar Court Theater under the direction of Richard Strauss.

Maurice Ravel was inspired by several fairy tales and summarized them in his ballet music "Ma mère l'oye".

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky used E.T.A. Hoffmann's story of the "Mouse King and the Nutcracker" as the basis for his famous ballet "The Nutcracker", which will be reinterpreted in the concert by poetry slammer Timo Brunke.
