Rosa Morena Russa und Clube do Choro Berlim • Album Release & Jam Session

Choro is the first authentic urban Brazilian music style that has existed since the end of the 19th century. Today it can be heard on almost every continent. It is a unique mixture of European classical and salon music, accompanied by Afro-Brazilian rhythms.

Choro is also a lifestyle. Members of different communities visit each other to take part in rodas (jam sessions), which contributes to an intensive cultural and personal exchange.

The album "Chora Berlim" documents such an exchange: the best representatives of the lively scene in Rio de Janeiro play together with chorões from Hamburg and Berlin. Most of the compositions are by the German-Ukrainian singer and composer Rosa Morena Russa alias Kateryna Ostrovska. After its release in Germany, the album received a very positive response in Europe, Brazil, Japan and South Korea. Individual pieces can now be heard at the rodas in Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Nuremberg and Fortaleza.

This will now be celebrated with a release concert. Afterwards there will be a Roda open to all choro musicians (register at rosamorena.de@gmail.com)
