CHIEF ADJUAH (CHRISTIAN SCOTT)

Since 2001, Adjuah has released thirteen critically acclaimed studio recordings, four live albums, and one greatest hits collection. He is widely recognized as the progenitor of the "Stretch Music" style, a 21st-century approach that transcends genre boundaries and adopts an ethnomusicological approach to limitless fusion, which led NPR to herald him as "ushering in a new era of jazz," and JazzTimes Magazine to mark him as "jazz's young style god" and "the architect of a commercially viable fusion."

He has collaborated with numerous renowned artists, including Prince, Thom Yorke, Flea, Common, Thundercat, Marcus Miller, Ron Carter, Eddie Palmieri, McCoy Tyner, and more.

Adjuah is dedicated to a wide range of causes that positively impact communities. Nearly a decade ago, he was named one of Ebony Magazine's 30 Young Leaders Under 30. He has given his time and talent to support several organizations, including Black Lives Matter, Changing Worlds, the Acres of Ancestry Initiative, and many other charitable organizations.

Since his emergence, Adjuah has been a passionate and vocal advocate for human rights and an unflinching critic of injustices around the world.His latest album, Bark Out Thunder Roar Out Lightning, named the Jazz Album of the Year 2023 by The New York Times, represents the pinnacle of his eclectic musical conception, merging his boundless creative vision with his socio-political activism.

Adjuah fuses ceremonial music from his Maroon roots with Hip-Hop, Jazz, West African music, and related genres to create a transcendent soundscape unlike anything heard before—more an experience than just music.
