Turning the Point 01
The new exhibition ‘Checkpoint Moritz’ at CLB Berlin is now dedicated to its special urban and socio-cultural dynamics between the Otto-Suhr-Siedlung, creative centre Aufbau Haus, SO36 and DAX companies.
To this end, artistic works that have dealt with Moritzplatz in recent decades as well as documentary evidence from the 19th and 20th centuries will be shown.
In addition, the artist Pia Lanzinger invites visitors to take part in vocally offensive tours and encounters with the neighbourhood.
´Checkpoint Moritz’ is the first sequence of the three-part project “Turning the Point” by Katharina Schlieben, Pia Lanzinger and Sven Sappelt, which will test artistic and civic formats of exchange and cultural practice around Moritzplatz in Berlin-Kreuzberg until the end of 2025.
Last but not least, a series of lectures, talks and films starting in November will shed light on the eventful history and present of the square (1, 6 and 20 November). With contributions from ALAS Architects, Birte Endrejat, Larissa Fassler, Stella Flatten, katrinem, Sigurd Kuschnerus, metroZones, nGbK AG Im Dissens?, raumlabor, Ursula Rogg, Georg Spehr, tak Theater Aufbau Kreuzberg.
