Erbarmen casts a critical light on our present, but avoids frontal attacks and instead skilfully poses fundamental questions:
- What is knowledge in an age of total availability of information?
- What really counts in life in view of the fact that we are all approaching death?
- What is the function of the written word in this context?
Anyone who sets out with the author in search of answers will be drawn into a subtly unfolding narrative stream that is able to skilfully carry us even where we have to reach out to the realities of life.
