Boji, the Istanbul street dog, quickly became a global internet phenomenon. But at what cost? Franz von Strolchen tells the true story of a dog thrown into life on Instagram, who always finds himself in the middle of things, as a universal fable about representation, manipulation, and propaganda.
Each evening, a different performer takes the stage, offering a new perspective on the events in different languages. Musician Anna Anderluh accompanies the performance live with sound objects and sounds that combine with the projections to create a dense visual and acoustic stage experience.
BOJI – IN THE STATE OF FIRE AND MIRACLES is a docufictional installation that interweaves real events with fictional elements. Boji, the stray dog, moves through Istanbul as a free agent and, as if by chance, becomes a projection surface for political and social attributions. Von Strolchen explores how images and legends are formed, the roles that visibility, publicity, and attribution play in this, and what they reveal about us as viewers.
