With the exhibition ‘Auf Spuren-Suche’ (In Search of Traces), the artist Bianka Wilckens presents an extensive retrospective that spans almost four decades of her artistic work. The exhibition can be seen from 11 May to 28 June 2025 in the hospital church in Wuhlgarten.
In her work, Wilckens combines different techniques and materials – painting, drawing, printmaking, collages and objects – to create a multi-layered body of work that deals with the vulnerability and diversity of human existence. Earlier and later works enter into dialogue with each other, showing continuities and breaks, further developments and new interpretations.
Time and again, poetic texts and calligraphic elements also flow into the creative process.
The exhibition shows motifs that oscillate between figuration and abstraction, hint at landscapes, recall animal or human figures, or develop a pictorial language all their own. Scraps, found objects, and the play on language are recurring elements in the works.
The result is an exhibition about transformation, memory and artistic research.
