Moderated concert in German as part of bauhaus music 2024 in cooperation with Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin, Church St Elisabeth
Here, pieces by Alban Berg and Béla Bartók meet Johann Sebastian Bach's Brandenburg Concerto, presented by the German Chamber Orchestra in the Church of St. Elisabeth.

Both Alban Berg and Béla Bartók were in contact with numerous Bauhaus members and were regular guests at the Bauhaus. They belonged to the musical modernism that broke away from the prevailing rules and proclaimed the equality and "liberation" of all tones. Similar to the Bauhaus in the field of design, the composers no longer accepted traditional certainties in music.
In apparent contrast to this is the form-bound music of Johann Sebastian Bach, who was, however, an important reference point for many Bauhaus members and the musical avant-garde. The avant-garde found the strict form of the fugue, of which Bach is considered to be the master, to be liberating.

This year's bauhaus music festival is under the motto FREEDOM and is made possible by the Capital Cultural Fund. Five concerts will take place over three days at two venues, the temporary bauhaus archive and the church/villa St. Elisabeth.
