People cannot survive without fear. But why do many women and girls have so many fears? And how can they deal with them and get rid of them?

Psychologist Barbara Voigt and doctor and journalist Beate Wagner take a journey into the world of women and girls with fears based on studies, reports from those affected and findings from psychology, culture, gender medicine and biology.

For the first time, they look at the connections between social, cultural and feminist aspects of female fear and explain, among other things, the influence of hormones, upbringing, prejudices or precarious situations such as poverty in old age.

Their book offers many practical insights into how fears can be accepted, alleviated or overcome through self-help and with medical and therapeutic help.
